Privacy policy

This site is a set of static pages. It has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comments, and no advertising trackers.

ZIP codes you enter

The targets calculator and the route planner do their math in your browser. When you enter a ZIP code, your browser downloads a small public data file named for the first three digits of that ZIP code (for example 372.json) and calculates on your device. This site does not store ZIP codes or link them to you.

The result’s page address includes the ZIP codes (for example ?zip=12345) so you can bookmark or share it. When a page with that address is opened, the address, including the ZIP codes, is sent to this site’s host like any web request and can appear in the host’s request logs, and your browser history keeps it. Open the tool without the address part if you prefer.

If you press “Open this route in Google Maps,” your start and destination ZIP codes and the route’s waypoints go to Google in the link. Google’s own privacy policy applies from there.

Family kit builder

The family kit builder works entirely in your browser. Your group size, child ages, budget, needs and owned quantities are not sent, saved in browser storage or added to the page address. Reloading clears them. Printing or downloading saves a copy under your control. Following an Amazon product link sends you to Amazon; your kit entries are not included in that link.

Checklist ticks

When you tick a box on a checklist, the ticks are saved in your browser’s local storage on this device so they are still there when you come back. They are never sent to this site or anyone else, and they do not follow you to another browser or device. Only which boxes are ticked is saved, nothing you type. Press “Clear ticks” under a checklist to remove them, or clear this site’s data in your browser. If your browser blocks storage, ticking still works but is not kept.

The offline copy

If you save the site for offline use, the pages, data files, and PDFs are stored in your browser’s storage on your device. Nothing you enter is added to that copy or sent anywhere. Remove it from the Use offline page or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Analytics

This site may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies or local storage to track you and does not build a profile of you across sites. It records things like the page visited, the referring site, and the browser and country, in aggregate. See Cloudflare’s Web Analytics privacy information.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Links to Amazon are affiliate links. When you follow one, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to credit the referral. That happens on Amazon, under Amazon’s own privacy notice. See the affiliate disclosure.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
